The 4th Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference of the Association of Ethiopian Pediatric Surgeons was successfully held on May 2–3, 2025, at Dreamliner Hotel, Addis Ababa. We were honored by the presence of Dr. Amanuel Hadgu (Newborn & Child Health Technical Advisor, Ministry of Health), Dr. Amal Saleh (President, Ethiopian Medical Association), and Prof. Damte Shimeles (President, Ethiopian Pediatric Society), alongside past presidents and committed members of our association. Highlights included:
• Jimma University Hospital awarded Best Institution of the Year in Pediatric Surgery in Ethiopia
• Dr. Maru Gama and Dr. Seifu Alemu recognized for their Outstanding Contributions to Pediatric Surgery In Ethiopia
• Abay Tasew awarded Best Nurse and outstanding contributions in Perioperative Pediatric Care
• Top Scientific abstract awards presented to Dr. Temesgen Nane, Dr. Samuel Mesfin, and Dr. Gashaw Arega respectively.
• Certificates of recognition were also awarded to pediatric surgeons who participated in the National Birth Defect Week surgical campaign held from March 3–7, 2025, organized by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Association
• Engaging panels, training sessions, and high-quality scientific presentations
• Guest Speakers by Dr. Mercedes Pilkington, Assistant Professor at UoT and Pediatric Surgeon from The Hospital for Sick Children ( SickKids) and Dr. Mainak Deb , Pediatric Urologist and Pediatric Renal Transplant Surgeon from Rainbow Children’s Hospital, India.
• Annual General Meeting that included updates from activities over the course of the year and important milestones including future plans of the association were discussed.
